I did all required things: upload module files, copied the js and css files, make sure the image folder is there ......., enable the block... But no picture displayed.
A strange thing is, even though I purposely input a block title for the slideshow block, that title did not appear (I assume even though the module does not show any picture, at lease a block title will be displayed.)
BTW, I am confused about:
-------------
Image path relative to the root.
Be sure that actual folder is followed by folder number.
Ex: couloir_slideshow1
--------------
So, if my folder is root/sites/files/slideshow, then I need to input 'sites/files/slideshow1', right? Why we need that number? I tried both with and without number, both case did not give me any slideshow.
Thanks for your advise.
Sincerely,
Derek

ComputerWolf commentedOk, you need the number on the folder since you could have multiple slideshow folders. For example, you set the path to 'sites/files/slideshow' and you could have 'sites/files/slideshow1', 'sites/files/slideshow2', 'sites/files/slideshow3', etc...
So in your case, if you set the image path to 'sites/files/slideshow', the actual folder for the first slideshow needs to be 'sites/files/slideshow1'
Also, make sure your folder with images in it is set to 777 permissions.

ionuts71 commentedHello, I did the following steps:
1. I upload the module in module/couloir_slideshow directory.
2. I upload the css and js directories from couloir_slideshow.zip in module/couloir_slideshow directory.
3. I enabled from Site building -> Modules the Couloir Slideshow module.
4. I enabled in Site building -> Blocks the Couloir Slideshow 1 block in Content region.
5. I put the pictures in directory sites/default/files/couloir_slideshow1 and set permissions of the directory and pictures to 777.
6. In Couloir slideshow settings -> Image path I put the above path: sites/default/files/couloir_slideshow but WITHOUT NUMBER AT THE END (no 1 at the end)!!!
Slide show is working. I hope it will help you.

huayen commentedThe module works perfect. Thanks a lot!!!

jonperry4 commentedI've done everything shown above, and, though the module appears just fine in the modules and block screens, it does not actually appear on the site itself. I've toyed with it for hours, to no effect. Anyone have any troubleshooting ideas?
*Edit* - I've gotten it to do something, just not what it ought to do. If someone could take a peek at the source and tell me what's wrong, that would be very helpful. The "slideshow" is at the bottom of the screen, so scroll down if needed: www.perryphotos.com
*Edit #2* - No matter what settings I use, it will not display any scripts to an anonymous user, so clicking on the above link likely won't be of any use. I've attached the source.

ComputerWolf commentedI am not sure why, but your site is not placing the html for the javascript and css files. These additions are done with drupal_add_js() and drupal_add_css. It seems that you are missing a big part of the header. Here is my copy of the parts you are missing:
I am not sure if this is a problem with your site or theme, but I believe these missing files is the reason the slideshow is not working. Any other info you could give me would be helpful.

fletch11 commentedThe above worked for me too - don't include the '1' when assigning the folder path.
thanks for the tip and for the great contribution to Drupal.

bassplaya commentedI did this to the letter as ionuts71 stated how to and still it doesn't work.
I can see the couloir slideshow showing up but it keeps loading and loading and never shows the pictures.
the permissions for both the folder(s) AND the files, are all set to 777
Also, how to let your users upload pictures?
Also, what about captions? are they automatically taken from the name of the picture?
Also, is there a way that I could use this with cck? as a new field?
Also, can you have multiple slideshows per user? How would they upload the pictures?
Also, can users create a new slideshow? does it automatically create a new folder with the correct name and path?
Also, right now it seems that you can only assign 10 slideshows? is this correct or can you assign more? I can see that if you list the pages where the slideshow needs to show that you could assign different slideshows (max 10?) to different pages.
Couloir Slideshow is very very nice but I guess this module is in a very early stage of development or really needs to be documented in depth so that non-geeks can also integrate this and enjoy.
I would be happy if these questions could be answered so I can decide whether or not this is the module I was looking for.
Many thanx !

mgiffordAfter banging my head against this I figured the best way to actually figure out what was required was to put in some error reporting.
I really wasn't clear from the docs or from this thread exactly what the system was looking for. Mind you fortunately the code is good. So, now it reports an error if there aren't any images in the directory when it tries to load the block.

ica commentedhello, i've followed all instructions on here, on the module settings and on the ionuts71's no1 to no6 which is worked for him/her but i can not still get it work
it still does not work, am i missing something?
image directory of the slideshow named as:
files/slideshow1
permissions 777 on files + slideshow folders + all images in it
thanks for your help
----------------------------------------------------
-correcting my original comment above - and the fix to the problem (just reporting back here to help someone else whom might have the same problem)
It was caused by the slideshow block from drupal and the couloir_slideshow version 5 that somehow update did not work..
steps taken
- i have setup slideshow block numbers to 2 and the second block worked not the no1
so i've cleaned up the slideshow no 1 block from the site variables..
- i de-installed the module than re-installed again.. (that cleaned the table from previous install)
- i setup 1 fresh couloir slideshow block
and now it works fine..

hectorplus commentedThis might sound silly and might not be the right place...but how do you call the block into the body of a node? how to display the images?
Thanks.

thangld commentedHi ica,
Could you please explain me, how should I do to get step 5 : "set permissions of the directory and pictures to 777". My Drupal is installed on PC with WinXP-SP2. Thanks in advance.
ica commentedhi thangld
Is your Drupal installation it on your local PC or on a remote server? i presume you have Drupal intsallation on your local PC and i presume you are specifically asking how to change file permissions to 777
its also called 'chmod' - you can use a shell script or an app, or an FTP app. to set chmod of file folder perms.
i am not familiar with PC settings but you can use some apps. like this
http://www.codelifter.com/chmod2index.html
-and the screenshot there is explanatory i guess

manerhabe commented"So in your case, if you set the image path to 'sites/files/slideshow', the actual folder for the first slideshow needs to be 'sites/files/slideshow1'"
This threw me off at first as well. Maybe it can be elaborated on in the README, like it was in the quote above.

Anonymous (not verified) commentedOkay so I am a total newbie to content management systems in general, Drupal is my first attempt. I normally wouldn't reply to a forum unless it is my last resort.
I've successfully completed ionuts71 steps 1-4 (I enabled the slideshow in the contents block).
The pictures I want to use are in my /images directory. So in Administer>Site Configuration>Couloir Slideshow; I've set the Image Path to /images1. And I've set the permissions to 777 for the /images dir.
I've created a page ?=content/test-page for my images to play here.
I went to Adminster>Site building>Blocks; Couloir Slideshow is enabled in the Content block. Then went into the block configurations and only changed it to the "Show [block] on only the listed page" option. In the body area of that I've tried entering; content/test-page, ?q=content/test-page, /test-page. Theoretically shouldn't it show up in the the middle of the test-page? I've tried different things with the test-page as well, from "filtered" and "full" HTML to adding or removing Body content.
Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

jimurl commentedHi Anthony,
I just picked up and started using this module, so take my suggestion with a grain of salt ....
You probably need to use the "Drupal URL", which would be, like node/23 or something like that. I think in many palces you can't use the assigned url.
I'm still working on adapting captions ....
joeybernal commentedI have done everything except for setting the permissions of the images folder to 777. I'm currently running drupal on MAMP. I don't know how to set the permissions to 777.
Currently, the block title shows up and on the next line are links that say Previous View Photo Next (See photo below). However they don't lead to any picture. They link to http://localhost:8888/#
I appreciate any feedback.
Thanks.

Anonymous (not verified) commentedThanks Jim.
Unfortunately that has not worked either. Anyone have any other ideas what I am doing wrong? Thanks.
**EDIT**
Okay so I re-read ionuts71's post, where the key is number 6! I guess it's always good to RE-READ what you don't understand. Thanks ionuts!

gonzo_ID commentedOkay. SO i have read everything there is to know about Couloir Slideshow i have found on drupal.org and have done the following:
5. I put the pictures in directory sites/default/files/slideshow1 and set permissions of the directory and pictures to 777.
6. In Couloir slideshow settings -> Image path I put the above path: sites/default/files/slideshow
nothing happens in firefox 3 nor safari 3 which is what i use. i can no longer be bothered to muck about with a module that doesn't seem to work so i've uninstalled it and will have to use something else. which is a shame because it was exactly what i wanted.

ComputerWolf commentedTo everyone having problems, I highly suggest you upgrade to version 6.x-1.6. Many of the issues with browser compatibility and code conflicts have been fixed. You no longer need the extra JS and CSS files separate from the module, nor do you need to have predetermined folder names. You can set the folder name in each block settings page. Once you upgrade to this version, your system file path is already assumed, and you only need to type in the subdirectory that your files are in. For example, if the module says: Image path relative to the configured File System Path, currently /files, your pictures should be in a subdirectory of the /files folder, such as /files/slideshow. If this is the case you enter slideshow into the input box. Hopefully once you upgrade, it is easier to work with the module. Please let me know if you still have issues once upgraded.

Ortaga commentedHi all
I did the following after installing the module etc.
I went to: admin/settings/file-system and changed the File system path: to sites/default/files
I then went to the Couloir Slideshow 1 BLOCK and entered the image path as couloir_slideshow1
My images are in: sites/default/files/couloir_slideshow1
And it worked.
Hope this helps.
