Adding additional regions to this template?

I love the fact that you have so many customizable regions in this template, but with the site I'm building.. I really want those top regions to load certain content based on the page, now maybe there's an easier way to do what I'm wanting to do besides adding more regions and then adding content to those blocks and restricting them to load on certain pages, but if there is, I don't know how

The problem I'm having is that the way this is coded, I have no idea how to add more regions to the page.tpl.php .. there's the whole count thing to decide whether to add the divider, and I just am not sure how to deal with it
