hi. wondering if this could also allow the author of a node to be notified of any/all comments on his/her node. also trying to understand if this will notifiy commenter of adjacent non-child replies (e.g. reply to parent story, not just the commenter's own comment itself)

Currently this module does not allow the author to get notifications about comments. If you install akismet module, the website administrator will get notification about all the comments and they will be maintained in a pending comments queue until they are published.

thanks. i'm not as concerned with akisment because my site doesn't allow public comments, only registered users...sounds like i'll need a notifications/subscriptions type module for that particular function...

This can easily be done with triggers and actions in D6.
