I was subscribed to an beta release e-mail list for Sproutbuilder.com which just launched today. Sprouts are what they call widgets, and the service allows one to quickly build, distribute and track custom sprouts. It's a neat service, and when I started poking around the site, the login looked really familiar... ;)

I don't work for Sproutbuilder nor am I in any way affiliated, but I've gotten good at spotting Drupal sites and thought I'd pass it along to the community. Enjoy! I plan to use their sprouts on my own recently launched site, whatisjust.com (also recently posted to the showcase forum).

the ability to have all of the code so that you can just own the widget on your own site without sprout intermediation and tag/link placement in the footers...

It's rare that I find a site on showcase that I want to use but I've got making a sprout on my "to do" list. :)
