Doesn't work if allow_url_fopen is not enabled... this won't work in all cases of course but sets it to enabled if possible.

Your patch looks good. Should I maybe implement alternative methods? Some people cannot turn on ini settings, either, maybe allow curl and even system('wget') options? I will apply your patch, but others should let me know if this is needed.

Definitely think adding curl is good, I just didn't need it in this case.
