Just a couple days ago, I read an article that talks about the new YouTube API (http://code.google.com/apis/youtube/overview.html) which now allows also file Upload. This would be a great way for video Assets to be stored.
Are there any plans for integration?

wmostrey commentedSince Asset 2 integrates with emfield, it should also work with the new YouTube API. Roger will be able to tell more about this.

zroger commentedAsset 2 is using emfield for embedding of YouTube videos, but I think this would be a very helpful feature.
I think the appropriate way to do this would be by implementing this feature as a Media Mover storage module. There are solid plans for integration of asset and Media Mover, so when/if this happens, asset would be the front-end to the heavy lifting being done by the media mover modules.

alex ua commentedPlease note that there is a Summer of Code application to create a new YouTube API Module, which we have asked the student to integrate with Media Mover and emfield, and there has also been an indication in the Media Mover issue queue that someone may already be working on this, so this may be getting tackled in the very near future.

zroger commentedThanks for the update Alex, I'm marking this one won't fix, since I would rather see it happen in media mover. Any further suggestions should probably happen at the location Alex mentioned.

giorgio79 commentedThere is already a module exactly for this called Video Upload

Although I would prefer a white label solution like media mover using amazon S3, so my videos are not watermarked by Youtube :)
