I have the Event Repeat module installed, but how do I use it? I'd expect an "Event Repeat" content creation link at node/add, but I don't see one (I have permissions set correctly). What I want to do is enter, say, a play once but tell it to display on March 13, March 27, April 4, etc. How do I do that?

Make sure you checked the option to allow repeating events on your event node type under admin > manage content > content types.
