Business-friendly use cases
This section provides a series of short use cases that explain how Drupal and its functionality could be a good solution for a certain problem, in a language readable by non-IT business folks. If you need to sell Drupal to your manager this might be a good place to start.
Information in these pages should be as low-tech/Drupal-agnostic as possible (i.e., use keywords instead of tags, avoid any Drupal speak such as nodes, core, etc.). It is also good to add links to relevant websites that demonstrate the functionality described in the use case.

Industry Specific Use Cases Presentations
Although I´m new to Drupal [6.x] I´m already a strong supporter. I think that it would be of great value to the community to create industry specific use cases - for example real estate, clinic marketing, automotive, social community etc.
That would not only enable companies/freelancers to pitch prospective clients with something they easily understand and which takes into account their specific needs, it would also allow Drupal to move into larger projects more easily, since it would assure the clients that Drupal is a solution that can serve their needs and is a scalable alternative too commercial CMS or other open source CMS - and much more intuitive to use for non-technical staff in business functions like sales, marketing etc.
I would actively working on such presentations, but I would need some input from long time Drupal users/developers who can give me samples of deployments in each respective industry we decide to prepare a presentations for, screenshots [pictures say much more than 1000words on a specifications sheet] and other input necessary to make the presentations comprehensive.

these examples are more general, but it might makes sense to run this as sub projects to these more general projects. what i had in mind is a specific presentation for a specific industry - not only Intranet/Corporate Web Sites, but let´s say a specific case which takes into account the requirements for the real estate industry.
although ecommerce sites have all common features like payment gateway or account management there are particular needs for real estate - for example the ability to up load pdf files with floor plans and the implementations of different rights for different functions in a real estate brokerage - the broker needs the ability to publish/unpublish available property, the controller only needs to know how many ads are live and being paid for and so on. off course this can all be explained technically and verbally. but to use an existing project can make a pitch much more efficient by showing some screenshots and live solutions - selling to non-tech savvy people, at least in my experience, is much easier by using screenshots than verbal description - using technical descriptions is completely a no go, this is something you discuss with their IT once they agree on what you presented to them.
Another example from my own experience - most websites in clinic marketing and therapists in the US are looking like from another age (except for a few big one) - but this is a multi billion dollar biz, not as sexy as a music labels or cutting edge blogs, but clients who are able and willing to pay for complex projects once they are explained what can be done in a language they understand!

Unless someone can give me a compelling reason I am likely to roll them all back under the same umbrella. I would not object to re-ordering, but things are getting a bit spread out here.

well - I didn´t see this section before, i saw business-friendly-use-cases/commerce and the one Michelle mentioned earlier. I guess putting it all under one umbrella makes it much easier to actually find it ;-)
