Taking up development

Hi,

Recently I was informed there will not be a 4.6 version of Amazon-Items: http://drupal.org/node/23205

I would like to take up the development of the Amazon-Items module, so that I can create a 4.6 version and possibly add new features etc.

I know the new Amazon Associates module but it is not appropriate for me at this time. I believe there are other users who may prefer Amazon items too, therefore I hope to continue bringing updates for them.

Could you please inform me how I can take up the development? Do I need to start a new project with a different name, or can I join this project?
