Multiple Dates

When creating a page view of teasers of a CCK content type of nodes that have multiple dates in the date field,
When a using the custom date range to filter nodes that have multiple dates, the node is listed multiple times (once for each date).

I have an event that occurs every Sunday from Jan-March. There is entry for each date in the date field (12 in all). For a date range of 1 Feb- 29 Feb, the Jan dates are listed too - stacked up at the beginning of the list. Selecting Past, Past and Future, or Future does not effect the output.
