Issue Summary

Not only the names are very similar, so is the functionality as far as I can see.
Could you please explain the differences?

I also got them confused.
Default filter sets defaults filters for content types (based on roles).
Filter default sets defaults for user roles.
IMHO.

Automatically closed -- issue fixed for two weeks with no activity.
