We are happy to announce the completion of porting of comment subscribe module for Drupal 6.x. This module allows users (anonymous and registered) to subscribe to their own comments on a node. The subscribed users will be notified of replies to their comments. This will send only relevant notifications to the users and will bring in more satisfied traffic to the site. Please check out the module and report any bugs or suggestions.

The release is available at http://drupal.org/node/230653

Does the subscribtion notify the user for "any" comment on a specific node, or just the "reply" to his/her comment?

In other words, If i leave a comment on a node and sucscribe to recieve emails, would I only get emails when someone clicks the "reply" to my own comment, or I will get an email every time a comment is left on this specific node?

Thanks!

The subscription will only notify the user of replies to his/her comment and child-comments. There is however an administrative option to enable notification for all comments to a node but the the more meaningful approach would be to send notifications only to replies to the comments for that user.

Great - so the default setting is notification for comments about your comment, but this could be changed by the administrator to make notifications go out when a comment is posted to the subscribed node. Did i get that right?

Here is why I would like to over-ride the default setting. I assume that once a user comment on a node (post) he/she is interested in such a post. So, to notify the user of any activity on that post would be a good thing. The user (from your module description) still have the option to unsubscribe, so if the user is satisfied from comments posted to that post, he/she can then unsubscribe :)

The module sounds great, I will give it a try. Thanks for your work on this.

Note: I'm still on drupal 5.7 - is it easy to update the module once I update to Drupal 6? I'm still waiting on views release before I upgrade.

Thanks!
