okay, i posted another request on here about compiling all editable fields - then started also using form defaults module to edit the help sections and all sorts of other crap: http://drupal.org/project/formdefaults
one of the really nice things that formdefaults does - aside from some overlap with this module - is present an "Enable or Disable" option to the admin such that an admin browsing a "form defaults enabled" site sees little "edit" tags next to each and every editable field (including every tiny element within modules input forms in nodes, and so on)
would it be possible to implement such a feature for string query as well - meaning it somehow is parsing whatever passes the term through () and where that happens, *when this view is enabled** the admin sees a little "override string" text and clicks to go to the admin interface for 'string overrides' and the item to be overridden automagically prepopulates the left side field?
if possible, then these two modules combined would be a dream come true for personalization and customization of a drupal install!!
btw, this module ROCKS! thank you so much. i have always believed that "add a comment" should say only "reply" - and i have to do that tedious edit all of the time...
