Hi, I am using organic groups and plan on having all groups as private. It would be great if the groups could use the book module to collaborate on projects, but I'm worried that users might create public books that will clutter the drop down menu and make it difficult to use. Is there any way to restrict book creation to groups posts only, ie. allowed for under the group module but not under the general create content area? Thanks for any suggestions.

one quick workflow idea
could you (possibly) make all OG members (of all groups) a user type called "OG members" (perhaps use a module like "role control" to automate some of this) - and then restrict access (and viewing rights) for "books" to that usertype?
it's a bit different in d6 - more control over creating books at a top level (as i understand things) so perhaps even more of an issue for your particular situation...
a complete alternative is using one of the 'wiki type' modules to modify a content type and make only the content type available to that same "OG usertype" that you create
role control + workflow
Yeah, role control should help.It feels right to say that Zilla has got a shot. However I am quite curious that role control and workflow should get you on the way to something interesting
