When I enter some of my own text instead of the default 'is this the first time visiting' message, my new content is saved and displayed correctly in the block. However, when I again edit the block the default text shows up again...

I ported over the HEAD version to DRUPAL-5, meaning that they'll be incorporated into the next development snapshot, which should happen later today. This should fix the problem.
