These are all problems which pop up again and again.
These are also all problems which frustrate users no end.
It's a first draft only; feel free to change things, add things, and delete things that have been fixed.
Thanks!

hyperlogos commentedDo any of the issues in the issue faq have actual bugs attached to them? Is there some reason update #5200 can't drop the table if it's the wrong format, or otherwise detect that it needs to be dropped?
Hetta commentedThese are Frequently Posted Issues. They have quite a lot of duplicate bugs (or feature requests) attached to them.
Dropping the old image table has been suggested ... are YOU sure that it's not needed, when converting from drupal 4 to drupal 5?
hyperlogos commentedNo, but I am pretty sure that there is a more graceful way to handle the issue.
I have been looking for but cannot find a page that had some SQL that I thought might be germane to this issue but I can't find it right now. I am hopeless with SQL so far. :(
Anyway it ought to be possible to copy any needed elements from that table to the place where they will be living before dropping it, right? Probably with SQL alone (select into where not in, or something totally different from that) :)
Sorry I can't give a more constructive comment.

sunSorry, this issue is way too old to have a chance to get fixed. Feel free to re-open this issue if you want to supply a working patch.
sunUh oh - can we add this to the handbooks instead, please?
sunMarking as needs more info. In two weeks I'll close this issue.
Hetta commentedI expect most of it is outdated, as people are switching to image 6.

Outdated though it may be, I have a few old 4.7 sites that haven't yet been updated (shame, shame) and the FAQ helped me fix some problems. So thanks for creating it anyway!
sunok, maybe we can extract some useful information here to fix any remaining issues in the upgrade path.
joachim commentedAnd parts of this FAQ should perhaps make their way to the documentation pages.
Anyone who's found a FAQ item useful, please migrate it :)

sunNo progress for more than a year, closing.
