I tried applying your changes/patch manually to my arcmateria based theme but it was modified (quite a bit I think) and it didn't work. I got a message saying it wasn't supported in Drupal6.6 in the list of themes.
Would you be interested in taking a look at my theme files and figuring out what needs to be changed?
I also took a stab at using the Coder module to see if it pointed out some major errors but it just showed some minor errors...nothing that should keep it from working (I think).
