OK, I don't want to sound too dramatic about this but won't blame myself as I have every reason to be :)

But before I starts talking about it, I would like to give a BIG thanks to some of the most wonderful people like verymisunderstood who seems to be single handedly taking care of the forum. Thanks mate, u had helped me alot during the early days. There are also lot of IRC members who had helped me in later days for instantaneous help like litwol/michelle/kabhey(there are way too many to mention). Will surely look to contribute more to the community from now on.

So Let me introduce you guys to http://www.coders2020.com/ - my little baby on whom I have spent 2 months (it is in beta, so not yet finished, I am adding few more features to it as well as working on presentation part of it)

I had built it on 4.7 last year and it had started as something fun but now the whole project and idea has become very serious. The site gets around 50k uniques/month and I will be looking to take it to 250k uniques/month with million views in next 4 months time. Its nothing flashy, the design is simple yet effective. I have intentionally avoided anything which I felt is not in alignment with the Core Idea of the site.

http://www.coders2020.com/ main strength is going to be its community and user generated content. I will keep you people updated by this thread about my plans with the site. I will also look to write a more details document about the site later. You are welcome to check its features if you want.

I have redesigned the site on 5.x and have added lot of features and have tried to make it more community oriented. Let people help each other since it is supposed to help freshly passing our graduates to get them jobs and who else can help them better than fellow site members who have gone through all those job interviews!.

Its 4:50 am here so I will call the day off and will go to sleep, will again reply to the thread tomorrow.

Regards

very nice job!

My only suggestion is to avoid phonetics like "ur" which is used above the header of the site.

^5 & you're welcome

Call me slow but now I realized what you were saying. :) I am using wwsgd plugin so that header message only gets shown to First time visitors, welcoming them and asking them to register. After that it will not be shown, hence I was wondering where did u found "ur".

Anyway problem fixed.

Your site is very nice. I like particularly the way when you click on a link and the box expands to show more information.

Everything is so impact and effectively laid out.

For newbies like me, can you elaborate on the degree of customization needed? Everything seems to have a purpose and each page delivers the concise message. Your navigation seems very well thought through. My opinions.

Thanks isaac,

Let me give you my approach towards the site design. I had spent lot of time in is structure like the arrangement of content. Infact I have a 40 page document with lot of images which I had created. I had NOT started building site until I was certain that I have covered all the points. If you are serious about some project than I will highly advice you to spend lot of time in analyzing and structuring. It will be good to build a very simple prototype on localhost as well. Always remember, it is very difficult to change and add features once when it is live, so better build a complete site.

I am not sure what do you mean by degree of customization, buts its on you and on your needs. I wanted a total professional site hence did so much work. :) I will also advice u to make lot of diagrams in a notebook and keep it aside. Such things will help you after 1 month when u start working on functionality and features and exact positions of site elements.

Feel free to get back to me and I will be more than happy to help you. I am myself learning, mostly from my failures :)

Edit - Oh ya that box was total pain in the @$$. Its faily simple code actually but took some time to make it fully work since I had to restrict the slide with fixed height which was conflicting with variable screen resolution. It is still not perfect but works fine.

ha ha..well that's all user submitted content. The site gets daily 100 pages created by users and since the sites primary target is Indians, mostly 21 to 25 year old people, I guess that's acceptable. Just check the placement papers section and u will see how Indias current generation type. :p

Anyway I think this gives a nice homely touch to the site, hence I dont spend any time in correcting them :)

Great job. You put alot into this work. Congrats.
Just a little suggestion from me. Font size is less. you could have used bit more larger font size. Font size really help in Google ranking for your contents. One more thing too much of padding for all blocks... In that place you can add more contents.
As i go through your content I saw, this is a content from your site
//What others are +asking ?+

*
what are the steps of operation done when an exe is run
*
Code to print jobs from printer in java
*
// +CAn+ any1 send me RIL placement paper(Technical MECHANICAL), urgent..
*
// Which of the following gives the memory address of a pointer +a?+
you must be hurrying while entering content but "CAn" and "?" added to content some times closer some times after a space. Lots of chatting terms. :)

Over all you done a great job.
Again hearty Congrats.
Cheers.

Thanks Naveen, unfortunately i am not getting lot of time to monetize the site and to edit the content. I am just approving the contents it comes. :) but I will surely try to edit such entries. It is just that everything is very new and cluttered.

THanks for the tips. I will surely look into it. Honestly, I have avoided doing too much css stuff because it can take lot of time. I will give the site few weeks, and I am writing all the things which I need to take care of and than I will apply all of them in one go to save time.

First off... Excellent job with the site... I was very impressed with the color scheme and layout for the site and it really comes off as pleasing to the eyes. I am also from India and am learning website building with Drupal myself. It would be really great if you could give me some information about your website hosting provider(name/URL, costs, plan, etc.) as I am not able to find a suitable one. If you can list some of the reasons you decided to go with your current host that would be super.

Cheers,

Ray

Very nice site but I have one suggestion that you might want to take note of. Users when navigating your site shouldn't be clicking stuff like 'here' in hyperlinks. Instead use keywords to explain what the link they are clicking is. Not only is it more intuitive it's much more user friendly!

Hope the advice helps and good luck with the site :-)
