Hello,

I had installed Toplist but not gotten around to doing much with it yet. But the site had two problems that I ultimately traced to Toplist. (Both problems vanished when I disabled Toplist.) They were:

1. Using the theme-based Search box led to a white screen. I.e., you do a search from the Block-based search box and all is fine, but you do a search from the theme-based search box (the one near the page top, near the logo), and you are always taken to a white (blank) screen. Looking at the log, there are numerous PHP errors from Toplist, which is what made me suspect it. (Without those errors, I'd never have thought of Toplist as the culprit.) Turning Toplist off solves the problem.

2. The web site displayed askew in IE. Parts of the front page were be shifted to the right, out of alignment with other elements in the same region (sidebar). I didn't know what was causing this problem (which did NOT exist in Firefox), but it magically vanished when I disabled Toplist while tracking the search-box problem listed above.

I look forward to further development of Toplist, and would be willing to test future versions.

Regards,

-ardee.

Hello ardee, thanks for the report.
The 2nd bug has already been reported in #230370: Display Problem and I am investigating on that.

For the search-box that does not work, I'll try to replicate that, but it would be helpful if you posted:
a) the error_log you are getting
b) more info on the install: is the toplist block displayed on the search page? Any additional configuration regarding blocks or possible conflicts with other modules?

Thanks, bye,
Marco

Hi, I cannot replicate the issue number 1: could you please give my the error_log and the other information I asked in my previous post?

Thank you for your time, bye,
Marco

Hi Marco,

It seems not to matter whether or not the block is displayed.

When I try to do a search via the box in the theme area, I get a blank screen. The log has this entry:

Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at www.example.com/sites/all/modules/toplist/toplist.module:701) in
www.example.com//includes/common.inc on line 314.

Searching works fine from the search block. Also, searching works fine from the search box in the theme area when I disable TopList.

As for conflicts with other modules, do you have any suspects that might cause these symptoms?

Thank you,

-ardee.

PS: I have not configured anything yet for this module, and the site is under development and thus has no referrers yet, if these facts matter.

Hi ardee, maybe I understood the issue: the problem should have been fixed in the latest release of the software, could you please download it and let me know?

Thanks, cheers,
Marco

I have repored the display problem as fixed in my original bug report. As for the search problem, no issues to report on my site. Both search boxes appear to function normally with all versions of Toplist.
