Is there a way to convert FUD Forums to Drupal based forums?

I need a way to move from FUD forums to drupal based forums.
I am using the latest version of FUD, FUDforum 2.7.7. And I am on Drupal 5.7.
I have so far found nothing that is particularly, so any help is greatly appriciated!

You could try a FudForum > Phpbb conversion tool if you find one because afaik there's a module that does a conversion between phpbb and the drupal forum.

To do that I'd have to convert from fud forum to Simple Machine Forums (if the converter works for 2.7.7) then convert from Simple Machine Forums to phpbb2 and then to drupal.
Has anyone tried this? This seems like a lot of hassle and possible data corruption/loss for the trouble. Any other ideas?
