Description
There seems to be some issue with the fonts for greek at http://drupal.org/press/drupal-6.0/el.
I can try to fix it if you give me access.

I am using windows XP.
Under Internet Explorer 7, some letters just don't look right, especially the letter "π".
Under Firefox the rendering is much smoother but still not exactly right. On Inspecting the page with firebug under Firefox, the fonts shown are "Bitstream Vera Sans",Verdana,Helvetica. Removing the first font, makes the letters look much more natural. It seems to be a font issue.
It reminds me some years ago the situation where greek text was typed on a Mac and then on trying to import it to a PC all the letters seemed odd.
I really cannot explain it any better. If you have someone who can read greek on the team please ask them to take a look.

...ανακοίνωσε σήμερα την επίσημη έκδοση του Drupal 6...
Just retyping some of the text at the page in question - the problem repeats as I type - it seems that greek letters are shown (rendered) in a different font than english ...

I think the whole problem is that "Bitstream Vera Sans" has some badly designed Greek letters. And it's peoples' browsers that render it using their installed fonts.
I don't see what can be done unless drupal.org drops this font from the Bluebeach theme's css, or leaves it out conditionally. Or is there anything else to be done?

If the particular font is not the best choice for non-english characters maybe it should not be used. I realise this is a much wider issue.
But isn't there a way to define a different font / font order for the particular page / other pages in Greek? (maybe through embedding html tags in the page? or through CSS?) It's a minor issue but at least for me is very frustrating to try to read that page.

I thinnk it can not be solved without an additional CSS class / changing BB theme. But let another webmeister step in and change the status and update this issue.
