Increase target querystring length?

I tried to set up a redirect with a target querystring 70 chars long, and discovered that both querystring and fragment are limited to 50 chars.

Pasting the whole target, querystring and all, into the "path" field (whose max length is 255) seemed to work fine. But teaching site admins about the workaround would be a training problem.

Is there any reason not to allow a longer querystring? (Or fragment for that matter.)
