Unpublished nodes showing up on map

I use Geobrowser to display locations of events, as well as what category they are (e.g. dinner meeting). Once the events are over, they're unpublished. They really are; they don't show up on pages or in searches etc. However, calling up dinner meetings on Geobrowser shows them plain as day.
