Taxonomy usage with AJAX for working in development country

Hi,
I am working with people in a development country (Nepal). We have together set up a site www.trekking-world.com to give them an extra aid in their survival. The site is set up in my free time, and the ads are distributed through my Nepalese collegees.

The site is growing and is slowing down.
Next to this when they need to add an article and want to tag it to a country, village, etc.. the site is so enormous slow with the regular taxonomy module, that it is unworkable for them.

So I researched the possibilities which are around for speeding up and add functionality to the taxonomy module. I found the following solutions, but all of them are just not enough ready for a production site, or have just not enough needed functionality:
- Taxonomy Strider (www.drupal.org/project/taxonomy_strider): Has AJAX abiltiy which is great!, needs new table for taxonomy information, but there is no conversion script, is unmaintained.

- CCK_taxonomy_super_select_ultra (www.drupal.org/project/cck_taxonomy_ssu): Is a great module! Big advantage freetagging with PARENT selecting. Disadvantages NO AJAX functionality yet, needs new table for taxonomy information. Automatical import not arranged yet (http://drupal.org/node/202995)
But not having the AJAX functionality to load only the level of taxonomy needed makes this module not usable with low bandwidth of internet (Nepal). There is a feature request for this, but it is not yet installed: http://drupal.org/project/issues/155755

- Hierarchical Select (http://drupal.org/project/hierarchical_select): Is a great module, advantage very good maintained *thanks Wim! and AJAX functionality. No freetagging possibility with parent and not possible to select only the subterm and subsubterm in once. If you select the subsubterm, then the term and subterm are also selected (If I am uncorrect please respond).

These modules comes the closest to the functionality I would like.
If cck_taxonomy_super_select_ultra has the AJAX functionality it will be the one I would choose for working in/with Nepal.
For now I choose Hierarchical Select, with the disadvantage that I am not able to only select a subterm (if I am correct off course).
But the AJAX functionality is much more important for working in/with a country with low internet bandwidth.

Is somebody willing to buil the AJAX functionality in cck_taxonomy_ssu, then please respond to http://drupal.org/project/issues/155755 then it will be absolutely great for my purposes! Because then my Nepalese friends can add a node and a taxonomy term on the same screen with the best speed there is!

A combination of taxonomy_strider (AJAX) /cck_taxonomy_ssu with good import that would be great!
