I'm working on a modified version of Blue Marine. Its still pretty simple, as I've only changed about 4-5 things.

One thing I'm wondering is if it would be better if I had a border right border and the left sidebar and a left border on the right sidebar. Or is it more natural w/out borders? Also, should there be a border on the bottom of the header and a border on the top of the footer or no?

It's up to you. Try out quite a few ways and pick one that looks good to you.

No one else can tell you what to do.

If i'm not wrong, you want an opinion about the design itself of your site, right?

Well, since each column/section has a defined background color, the borders are unnecessary, imho.

I would concern more about other kind of costumizations, like fonts, headlines, links and, of course, a cool and personal header. All that would give it a more personal look and feel to your site :]
