This applies to 5.x-1.x-dev and 6.x-2.x-dev equally.
Presently Start and End time formats display the Short data format.
Requesting a control on /admin/settings/event/overview to provide a choice for Start and End time date formats between Short date format, Medium date format, Long date format.

Okay, so then would you consider changing the date display to long format?
