I like to have a room reservation form where a user can complete and have it send via email to the Admin. Is there anything out there that I can work on it? If not, can the Contact module be modified for that purpose?

Have a look at the Freeway project - they are working on a complete hotel room booking solution for Drupal. It looks like it will be done in a few months time. The developers are serious and Freeway seems to be the solution for online time based booking/selling stores, it's the only thing I've found after a LOT hunting and testing.
