Would it be possible to expand this module with a block for the front page that shows all the bloggposts for todays date?

Ideally I would like to create a filter for the Views module, so that people can specify posts written "on this day" and then can add filters, such as only blog posts (and not, for example, stories). That way you would be able to create any type of view (block or page), and multiple views as well.
