Freelance website - duvien.com
Hi,
Site URL: duvien.com
I've re-designed my site and hope to get some feedback.
This is a site for me to blog about open source projects and general rants about anything else. It is also used to showcase some of the work and photos, and hopefully to provide some resource or tutorials. Other than that, i also use it as a digital playground for testing stuff occasionally.
- Used the CSS framework - Blueprint for a grid column layout (well partial of the framework).
- Modules - Tagadelic, Views, CCK, Gallery2 embed, text-sizer, quicktabs, download count, sitemap
- jQuery plugins
Site validates as strict xhtml but broken by quicktab as there is a bug in quicktabs, hopefully this will be fixed soon.
Thank you,

Badass
Especially the scrolling in the portfolio section. Did you whip that up yourself?
Nice work
Good job Duvien!
Half_brick
I think Duvien is using functionality like Gallery for that.. There are many options available to do that. But I will let the guru speak for himself.

Nice job done.
Check this module
http://drupal.org/project/search404 Shows related results.
Uneven padding for bullet in similar contents(check recent blog post and other website news.).
My opinion is that you got content then why waste space by using padding.
Congrats.
Cheers.

Hey naveenpi, thanks for the recommendation about the Search404 module. It's pretty amazing :)
Yes, the padding should be fixed now though i still need to check on IE, yikes!
One question, is there any performance issue with the search404 module? so far does seem so but if the site gets larger are there side effects?
thanks,
P.S. Just to add, QuickTab is now fixed thanks to the maintainer (Katherine), yay!

Re:
Beautiful website.
Like how you create the spacial feeling at the top of the page.
Nice color arrangement as well.
Just some small points in a beautiful website.
You have the outlines of the laptop and the picture frame running at odd angles to each other.
It doesn't flow nice.
The text size could be a bit bigger. It is hard to read. I didn't see the the change text-size until the second page. So that could be better placed on the front page, or easier to see.
The rollover of the topmenu, the red with the tan, I am not sure if that is the best color combination with the rest of the top menu. Plus it is very flat compared to the rest of the topmenu.
Maybe the word spacing in the headings could be a bit better (wider or smaller).
Keep up the good work.

Thanks for your input, I'll certainly go thru them and see what needs to be updated.
You're right the angle of the photo inside. I actually dislike that shot and feel i'm giving Mac free advertising which is not my intention ;).
However, what i really wanted to show was a lovely picture of my beautiful city but the weather here in Scotland hasn't been great so i'm holding out until i can get a good snap. Perhaps i should dig thru my older photos and see if i can replace it.
I take you point about the heading spacing, will see how it looks spacing them out a little. As for text being small, i feel larger text would make the site look a little clunky and lose a touch of subtle elegance. maybe you are viewing it on a much higher resolution?
Thanks for your feedback.

Awesome site design.
Thanks for the link to CSS Framework - Blueprint. I have been fishing around for something like this for awhile. Leave it to a Drupaler to find it, use it, and post it here.

thank you
I like your site duvien. But most of all I want to thank you for bringing the scroller to my notice - it is just the thing I need right now - see my site post 'lateral thinking' a few minutes before this one.
But back to your site, I really like the header, it is clean and spacious and interesting, it works well on all of the tabbed pages - only thing that occurs to me is that the front page looks kind of busy, perhaps that is the nature of front pages, but I think that if I'd come across your site from somewhere other than here, where I was looking to see the site for its layout etc, then I might have just traveled away, even though I enjoyed the movie.
But the portfolio page had me wanting to dig deeper. How about bringing the scroll to the front page and getting some of the nav clutter a bit less noisy?
just a thought.
David
@tifrap, thanks for your
@tifrap, thanks for your feedback. I totally agree with you that the frontpage is too busy and can do with stripping it down a little further as i do love a lot of whitespace and keeping it simple. But it's often difficult when you have a vast interested in a lot of things and trying to balance this with keeping the important teasers isn't easy. This was why i tried using the tabs to their effects for grouping things together to un-clutter the page.
But i hope having all the important contents at the top (above the fold) gives a first indication of the type of sites being visited, which is primarily a web designer's blog site before anything else, and the type of users that i want to visit my site.
