Upload files to subdirectories

Hi everybody,

I'm looking for a long term solution for a problem of uploading files to different subdirectories, not only to files/

for example:
files/blog/admin (files put direct in this folder)

there is an uploadpath module, but as far as I know it is not going to be ported to drupal 6 in the near future (it is not so easy). and because I'm builiding a big site with many blogs, I would like to find a long term solution, which will easily work with Drupal 7, Drupal 8, etc...
