Steps to reproduce

  1. On the module page at http://drupal.org/project/dhtml_menu
  2. Click on the link "Try out a demonstration".
  3. An error message is display

Demo link goes to http://dev.ermarian.net/dhtml_menu/

Server not found

Previously that demo link was going to http://dhtml.demo.logrus.com

This site is no longer active.

If your current availability doesn't allow to fix that demo site. I suggest to use this link https://simplytest.me/project/dhtml_menu/7.x For the "Try out a demonstration" link.

User simply click on "launch sandbox" button to try out a demonstration

The "Try out a demonstration" link is broken again. It immediately pulls up a log in form.

Still broken, asks for username and password, demo/demo didn't work.

I'm very sorry about this. I've had some troubles on my website and had to temporarily shut this off.

The link will now work again - however, the demonstration site has not been updated in a while, and may contain some bugs that have since been fixed in the module or core. I'll try to take care of that this weekend.

Currently gives a 404, with http://ermarian.net noting "The Ermarian Network, or the part of it you are looking for, has been taken offline due to some serious glitch. This was done at Wed, 07 Mar 2012 16:52:39 -0800"

Does anyone have an example of this module in use?

Thanks

The link (http://dev.ermarian.net/dhtml_menu/) is still/again broken.

Error message is:

Not Found

The requested URL /dhtml_menu/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I added a "DHTML Menu" page to the Drupal "Documentation" handbook.

https://drupal.org/node/2126031

That page includes:
- Sample demonstration site.
- "Do NOT use the Beta version" warning.
- My recommended settings for options.

---

Unfortunately,
I do not have access for editing the Project page, so...
- I can not add a link to my sample site.
- I can not add a link to the Documentation page.

Thanks Christopher :) Good idea for the documentation page. I searched it but can't find any sample? Is it normal?

Hi cburschka :) Thanks for trying to fix the demo website.

User simply click on "launch sandbox" button to try out a demonstration.

If you want to use that website could you update the "Try out a demonstration" link on the project page at https://www.drupal.org/project/dhtml_menu

The sandbox feature is great, but I'm not sure how to see a demo of the dhtml module, when I logged in it was a basic installation of Drupal but no pages or demo menus created yet. So is it a demo of Sandbox functionality only?

A major disadvantage of a sandbox is that everytime you close it, all your work is gone. So it can't be used as a demo site, unless there is a way to save your work...?

I was able to create a nice DHTML menu, but it acted weird, here are the results:

  • Create the sandbox
  • Go to the Main menu settings and add links and sub-links in several levels.
  • Goto the DHTML settings and indicate which menu will inherit the DHTML effects

Now the effects don't work on the regular menu location at the top, to see the effect, you need to put the menu in a block, but still it doesn't work in every block locations either! and it depends on the theme as well. In the Sandbox it works on the side blocks.

So trial and error is needed, but once it works it's really a nice way of opening the menus.

This module needs a lot of work still.

Hi Vako :) Thanks for sharing the steps.

Correct that site is just a temporary sandbox for testing. Module(s) are fresh install. And not pre-configured. After X hours it is automatically reset. So any content stored in there would be lost after that reset.

Drupal 7 DHTML-Menu live site example

At bottom of the following page
you will see the D7 DHTML-Menu in action.
It is the Drupal 'Book Navigation' menu 'block'
which I renamed as my "Site menu".

great-grandma.com/wbi

The DHTML-Menu on that page is setup
according to the instructions
on the drupal.org documentation page "DHTML Menu"
https://drupal.org/node/2126031
