I've been trying to set up clean url's on Ubuntu but for some reason I keep getting errors in the log about the maximum number of redirects being passed. I've tried to up the redirects through the apache config and htaccess but nothing seems to fix it. I've tried this on 2 seperate Ubuntu installations with the same problem, every time i've tried it on red hat, it worked perfectly. Any ideas?

The message suggest that you have some sort of bad rewrite rule. See .

Is this a fresh install with absolutely no code changes?
Are there .htaccess files in any directories above the one that is in your Drupal directory?
You could always post your apache config.
