I used drupal to run a small, local non-profit in Kentucky, USA. A user just registered with an email address ending in lugarus.com, which if you click it appears to be primarily a clearinghouse for illegally copied copyrighted material. It's somewhat hard to tell because the site is in Russian. After creating the account, the user never logged in. Googling the email address gives as a #1 hit a link to forum spammers.

By default we allow comments.

Should I block the account?

@svref: I'd delete or at least block the account, yes. If there's no compelling reason to let people register accounts (the site is only for distributing information, like a blog), you might consider disabling the user login/registration block as well to prevent additional fake users.

Are you using Akismet to check comment spam? You have to have an API code from WordPress, but that's free and I've found Akismet to be very effective in reducing comment spam.
