#translatable is the best mutilingual module of Drupal,
Easy then Localizer, more easy then i18n
especially taxonomy translate function

but I'm afraid this great module will not te update/improve inthe future.
that is what I am concern for language module selection. (i18n or #translatable)

easy:
#translatable > localizer >>> i18n

up to date:
i18n >> localizer > #translatable

No worries - as we are solely using #translatable on various sites, we will certainly develop an (at least basic) upgrade path to upcoming versions of this or other modules.
