Book module and book navigation block

The book navigation block - is there a snippet to show all the items expanded? Now when I create a book page A and two child pages C and D, I can't see in the navigation that A actually has two child pages (unless I click A).

I've just checked my test site, Drupal 6, but I'm sure this is the same with Drupal 5. In the Navigation block, a book page that has no children or sub-pages is indicated by a circle. If the page has children pages it's indicated by a small solid triangle.
Sorry can't help re - if there is a snippet available, I'm sure there is.
