Help please - Devel blocks invisible

Hello,
This is my first forums post! I know that this could go under the Devel issue queue, but I'm sure it's something to do with my setup.

I've got the module installed, the blocks region selected, and I'm logged in as Admin
The blocks are set to display for the Admin role

Not sure why, but they just won't appear. Is there a minimum width for the block? What else could I be missing
Running Drupal 5.5, and Barron theme.

Thanks for any advice.

Make sure you have also set

Make sure you have also set the necessary permissions at admin/user/access.

This same problem had me scratching my head for a while the other day!! I've lost count of the number of times I've failed to set the necessary permissions for different features etc...
