Description

Everything works fine except that there is no searchbox (at the top) in Firefox, but the searchbox IS there in IE7. I have tried altering style.css without success. Thanks in advance. Here is the site: http://ouachita.dismalhiker.org/

I withdraw this 'bug report'. It turns out that the searchbox disappears (in Firefox) when the administrator is logged in. When I logged out, the search form input box reappeared.

Thanks.

My problem is similar but somewhat different. The search box only appears when I'm logged into my site. When I log out it disappears. Anyone have any ideas?

Just to clarify, I don't have the search box enabled as a block. Its enabled in the theme customization section. Thanks.

Have you granted permissions to search content to anonymous users?

I had exactly the same issue as dismalhiker, and have managed to work around it.

On FF3 whilst logged in the search box did not appear. On IE7 the search box did appear, and on both browsers the search box is present on the admin menu (same theme used).

After investigation, this appeared to be a problem with the way the CAPTCHA module added additional CAPTCHA administrative text after the search box when logged in as admin, and how that extra text interacted with the CSS in the theme and the FF3 browser.

By disabling the option to "Add CAPTCHA administration links to forms", the search box reappeared.

thanks comments #3 from javizcaino. I had same problem as comment #2 and it was a permission issue

Similar problem here, although this only occurs on the front page for me, and it does not matter if I am logged in. In Firefox, the button for the search box will appear, but not the actual text field. I do have the CAPTCHA module installed, but disabling its option to add administrative links does not fix the problem. The entire search box (text field and button) do appear in Internet Explorer 7.

I may work around this by using the search block.

Aha! Problem was that I had the CAPTCHA module set to appear on the search form. Odd that this would only affect the front page though. Add this to the list of fixes.

I too am using this theme and the option for search is grayed out in the global settings for the theme. I am not using the CAPTCHA module. Any ideas on how to get this functionality to work on my site? Thanks for any suggestions.
