How do I make it so that the color of the ul a is not the same as the "Additional" block area?

With apologies this is really outside the scope of support on a theme. The basic methodology would be to use something like http://www.westciv.com/xray/ or the theme developer module and determine which css selectors apply to those elements you want to change and then create a sub-theme with a style sheet that overrides the theme.
