This module was REALLY needed thanks so much for creating this. However alas many of us will be stuck on 5.x for sometime, given the slow rate of many module updates.

I tried to upgrade yesterday just for this module, but there were too many essential modules still only available for 5.x preventing me.

Any chance you'd consider a 5.x version?

No. I do not deal with 5.x anymore unless I am forced to by some cruel, cruel person.

If you (or someone else) submitted a patch, that would be a different story. Marking won't fix, because I just don't want to.

Too bad, that's exactly what I was looking for for several weeks - and I'll be stuck to D5 for some unlimited time (several functionally critical modules are not or will never be ported to D6).

Anybody willing and able to backport Synonym Collapsing to D5?

I'm willing, having time to do it though is another thing right now :/. Plus I'll need to get myself up to speed on these parts of the API, but yeh it's really kind of needed.

If I have time to do it, I'll post here, don't hold your breath alas.

thank you for porting to 5.x, and for this great module

I've tried it in drupal 5 however, and going by behavior discussed here
http://drupal.org/node/251447

it doesn't seem to be working or i am not understanding how to use it

i install module, create a free tagging vocab with all the defaults (Hierarchy disabled, related terms, multiple select, unchecked).

I then click syn collapsing tab, select this vocab and save

I add a term to the vocab, and a syn for that term.

I'm using community tagging with my forums (http://drupal.org/project/community_tags), so I go to add a new post having set this new vocab to be used. I enter the syn and there is no ajax completion suggesting the term that it's a syn of.

I go ahead and enter it anyway, and when the message is posted it creates a new term.

My understanding is that it shouldn't create a new term.

hi, okay I tried it out.

Actually I think I have the same issue as the person above and I'm also using community tags. Meaning it doesn't seem to be taking effect. Is there some item I am missing? I'll try to take a look at the code see if I am not understanding usage, or spot a bug.

Ok, that is a separate issue. Community tags uses it's own form ('community_tags_form') instead of the default taxonomy one ('taxonomy_form')... feel free to create a separate issue for that.
