As I suspect this module constantly run and filter pages, I wouldn't want to have it run on my site constantly for the DB hit impact but the idea behind it is very good . However I had an idea how it could be implemented to only run when link break. The module could be applied only on edition so when the link break, the module would simply have to do a batch filter/edit (without modifying anything in the content). Furthermore the syntax, although simple, could even confuse some user so another filter could be added to read normal URL patterns and the admin settings could have something like:

old (current) URL
field
new URL
field
convert URLs
button

This ticket is over a year old and has had no response at all. I simply don't understand what the question/issue is and so I'm going to close the ticket on the assumption that the issue has been worked out already. Please reopen this ticket and clarify your request if this is still an issue for you.
