None of my freetagging taxonomy/categories are showing up in forms using tabs. I have enabled the correct content type in the categories themselves. Do cck fieldgroup tabs somehow interfere with categories?

It wasn't the fieldgroup tabs at all. It was the content taxonomoy module that was somehow disabling the showing of categories.
