Is there a way to delete/remove a profile ? Please advise me on this.

I'm working on some version 5 sites and haven't seen anything for account deletion apart from the user contacting the admin. This is a very important feature and if anyone has seen something, please post it here. I did see an issue for this being worked on in dev 7.x.
