Hey guys, just to show you how powerful Drupal is! In 8 weeks I was able to put together this site and upload all the content you see. There are still a few bugs that need ironing out, but the open source community must be congratulated on a job well done. Drupal is a masterpiece. Tell me what you think about it.
P.S. Sorry for accidentally posting this in the General Discussion.

very nice stuff!
looks great - though one quick question for you: for the downloads section, are you getting updates automatically, or are you stuck manually checking for updates to all of those apps?

Stuck Doing it Manually
Some product developers submit updates, while the others we have to do manually. I haven't figured out a great way to get it automated. if you have any insight, please let me know
a subscription to versiontracker?
or macupdates? don't they have a premium offering that will give you a specialized rss feed? you could use feed api to generate nodes from the feed for these items perhaps, and in turn they would be regularly updated BUT may produce multiple nodes for the same item!

Hmmmm
That's a really great idea, I didn't think about that. Thank you very much zilla. I will explore my alternatives and see if I can come up with a more efficient process than doing it manually. Do you have any idea about SEO however. I have used the XML sitemap module. Submitted to google, yahoo and MSN, but only 4 pages are indexed by Google. None of which include my news articles.

Tim,
Thank you, I didn't even know that such a module existed! I love this community! I'm going to do that right now :0).

Thanks for the module Tim.
Thanks for the module Tim. It was easy to install, and I have been getting great reviews about it.

I was wondering how you got pictures to show up in your news feed instead of just text ?
FCKeditor
Pictures are managed with FCKeditor and the image module. I am also using the views module extensively.
Sorry for the delay in the documentation - expect it in a few weeks. In the meantime, If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
P.S. I recently had some problems with the jquery update module and FCKeditor and thus I haven't been able to integrate lightboxes as yet.

Thank You Wolfflow
I hope your mac experience has been as fulfilling as mine. :o) I'm glad you like the website. I wanted to maintain a similar look to the Apple main site while still being original. I ran into Roople Theme's LiteJazz and decided to use it as the base theme.

You are welcome,
I really enjoy my macs. Thouth I have an old Powerbook G3 Lombard (year 1996) and he still do his job well. I installed OSX Tiger on it and the good gay is happy ;-) You can immagine that I use them also as test webserver for checking some Themes on Mac- That is really unbelivable!! (in 12 years he crashad only ones). Ok let me ask you if you mind that I will try to work on making a similar THEME like you have on your HP for porting int to D6. Let me know.

No Problem
Hey Wolfflow, you have a very valuable veteran machine, I'm impressed that its running so smoothly still! Thanks for the offer with the theme, but I would prefer if it remained custom at this moment. You can feel free to use ideas from it in the theme you are working on, but not a full dupe theme port.

Thank for your replay
Ok no problem surely i will not try to clone your Theme. Wish you great success with your projects.
Just as info I have fully cloned apple.com (HTML) on my machine and just have some small bugs with applying
two js. Then I will try to transfer everything in a Drupal environment. I'm waiting just for few modules upgrade to 6.x
like views and cck for having less work in adapting everything.
Cheers

Thanks again wolfflow.
Thanks again wolfflow. Impressive work with the apple.com dupe. I'm looking forward to seeing your final port on Drupal! Are the js bugs that you ran into with the product browser (http://www.apple.com/mac/)?
www.myappleguide.com
Hi cmckay
The most relevant bug issues I have with http://www.apple.com/iphone/
But I know that as soon as CCK and Views are ready for D6 I will be able to port everything to Drupal.
Of course also the pannel module would help to have less code to modify and include in tpl.php pages
but is still a long run to the final results. The think I'm sure, that Drupal is absolutely the best CMS tool
for allowing even not programmers to build great personal HP, as you did with your example.
Cheers
