You may want to try an enhanced version of this module: http://drupal.org/node/165608#comment-630555

Download the module, install it and use the admin/settings/compact_forms to check on the 'move label to textfield value'.

If you are pleased with it, add a comment to that issue and add your vote to it so we can ask the maintainer to add this into this module.
