This patch is a start, and even seems to more or less work but not completely, and there are numerous problems including an extra call to views_get_view that would be nice to avoid, also it's possible to add attachments to the default display, it may be possible to create a loop of attachments, some subtle weirdness in the option form, and probably some other stuff I didn't find.

I may have time to work on this further but probably not much, so if anyone feels like taking it and running with it, feel free.

I made some significant changes to how this works -- primarily push vs pull on how the attachment gets chosen, but as near as I can tell this is now working.
