How do we remove the left column in our 2- or 3-column layout in certain 'contexts'?

E.G., when we activate CiviCRM, we want to use the entire page width for CiviCRM; the left column - including the Navigation Block - consumes too much space. Presumably, the user could navigate back to 'Home' with Primary menu link.

Go to Administer->Site building->Blocks. Then you can click 'Configure' next to each of the blocks in the sidebar, go down to 'Page specific visibility settings', and add rules to hide it on CiviCRM pages. If there are no blocks visible in a sidebar, it will automatically hide.
