making List from mysql query

I think the webform module is great. It has been extremely useful for me.

I was wondering if it would be possible in a 'select' component to make the list by querying a table in the database, rather than typing them in by hand.
This would make a dynamically created drop down list.
It would also be very nice to have a "typeahead" function for fields, if this was possible.
