I worked up the development snapshot of assetfield.module to work with am.module. There were a number of cases where I needed to create field_asset to pass on to the rest of the module and a patch to am.module is included.

I thought this module had a lot of promise, but there are better ways to do this now in D7. Closing out as a matter of maintainance.
