For many users (the vast majority on my site at least) they will be adding new files the majority of the time, and grabbing files attached to other nodes as a secondary function. Is there a way we can either change the order or move things around so that the upload file dialog is not buried behind two collapsible field sets?

Additionally maybe the default naming scheme should not say webfm when attaching files to nodes, but something more intuitive to a newbie user such as "upload and attach files". You can do this with theming or the locale module, but most users probably use this module out of the box.

I hear you but this isn't a trivial change - I'll take a look. One thing you can easily do to elevate the prominence of the upload fieldset is to swap the comments at lines 419/420 of webfm.js to place it above the file manager.

I think this will be a good start, and should help the problem, but an ideal solution would be one with one less collapsible fieldset. If this is practical to do, then i think it should be a good thing... i may be able to do some testing in a few weeks and see if this is a good solution.
