Usually the host.
how many contrib modules are in use ?

Is page caching turned on ?
css aggregation turned on ?

What are host specs ?

are you with a super value host ? who may be overcrowding their servers ?

Yeah, i notice that 2

yeah, i have noticed that the administration section of drupal is slightly slow. It does not worry me too much. I thought that it may have to do with the MySQL server that it is reading from.

I suppose that the more contribs that you have activated the slower your admin/site will run.

Umm, what parts of your site run slow? If it is the admin section I would (personally) not be too worried about it. If it is your entire site you may like to look at possibly turning on the caching module.

I dunno if this will help, but you could also look and see if the throttle module is activated and what parts of the site it is throttling.

just starting

I'm just starting up,but its my home page that is loading up slow and everything else that I click on.No module are on yet I've been trying to figure out which ones will work for me,If you guys and girls have anyones that are just common sense to use let me know and I will try the throttle mod.
thanx again

ok, thats interesting that your whole site should be slow. I havnt actually come accross that.

As for the modules: i spose it depends entirely on the type of site that you are building/working on as to the modules that you can use.

There are a few that i would say should be used for most sites. They are as follows below:
1). Nodewords (http://drupal.org/project/nodewords) for meta tag support.
2). Backup Migrate (http://drupal.org/project/backup_migrate) for simple backup and migration.

And then you can also have a look at some of the contributed modules that are included with the install such as the syslog which puts all of the system information into an easy to read log. There is also some tracking modules that might interest u.

If Drupal core is running

David Strauss - April 6, 2008 - 20:41

If Drupal core is running slow on a new, tiny site, it is a problem with your hosting company.

thought as much

theamoeba - April 6, 2008 - 21:07

i thought that it may be the host.

They were rated one of the top ten on most all review sites that I looked at,the other thing is crons is showing an error when I log into
the admin. I just got crons up and running last night so hopefully that will help
